about
Dr. Katarina Gombosova
Dr. Katarina Gambosova, MD is a pediatric endocrinologist with a very diverse training background. She grew up in Slovakia where she also graduated from Komensky University in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1999. Compare to US graduates, she finished 2 pediatric residencies: one in Slovakia and another one at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She did 18 months of purely clinical pediatric endocrinology fellowship at Yale University in New Haven, followed by 2 years of clinical and basic science research training at Brown University in Providence where she graduated in 2009. She moved to Topeka, KS in 2010 where she has worked for Stormont-Vail Hospital for 10 years. During that time, she developed a pediatric endocrinology program with all support services needed to provide standard of care in pediatric diabetes and endocrinology: certified diabetes educator trained to educate children with type 1 diabetes, pediatric nutritionist, social worker and therapist. As Topeka practice grew, Dr. G started a new practice located inside LMH in August 2017, so that children from Lawrence and surrounding areas would not have to travel to Kansas City. Dr. G left Stormont-Vail in April 2020 during a merger that closed this practice and she opened a solo consultative practice in Lawrence where she can guarantee continuity of care. If your child is referred to this practice, you will be seen by a specialist, no APRN. Dr. G is licensed to practice medicine in KS, MO, AR, OH and FL.
